Day 1
LusakaAfter arrival in Lusaka transfer to a small lodge in the outskirts of town. Dinner in a restaurant (-/-/-).
Day 2, 3 and 4
Lower Zambezi National ParkAfter breakfast we drive through Lusaka and down the escarpment to the Zambezi valley. A visit to the Lower Zambezi Park is one of the highlights in Zambia.
The Zambezi River on the one side and the Escarpment on the other form the backdrop of our game viewing. We do game drives in the Park and boating along the river shore to watch the animals come to drink. On one of these days we will do a sunset boat cruise on the Zambezi.
We stay in chalets at Eco Residence Lodge (or similar) on the banks of the Zambezi River (3x FB)
Day 5
Flight to Mfuwe - South Luangwa National ParkIn the morning transfer to Royal or Jeki Airstrip and flight to Mfuwe airport. Transfer to our lodge on the banks of the Luangwa River. Overnight in chalets at Marula Lodge or Safari Tents at Wildlife Camps or similar (F/-/A).
Day 6, 7 and 8
South Luangwa National ParkSouth Luangwa NP is known for its abundance of African wildlife: Thorneycroft’s giraffe, Cookson’s Gnu, Crawshay Zebra and big herds of buffalo and elephant.
Game drives along the Luangwa River often produce spectacular sightings. Hippo families can be seen in great numbers in the river, unparalleled in Africa.
During the dry season (July to October), many side channels of the river dry up, leaving the fish trapped. This attracts many different species of predators, such as the African fish eagle, jackal and
The colourful Carmine bee-eaters are often seen perching in front of their nests in the river banks. You will explore the area on game drives (also night game drives) and game walks (2 activities per day, depending on availability).
Overnight in chalets at Marula Lodge or Safari Tents at Wildlife Camp or similar (3 xFB).
Day 9 and 10
South Luangwa National Park-Nsefu SectorTransfer to the Nsefu Sector, one of the most beautiful parts of the park, where we will stay for the last 2 days. The highlights here are the game walks for which South Luangwa National Park is renowned. Game drives and night drives are offered as well.
Overnight in Safari Explorer Camp or similar (2x FB).
Day 11
DepartureTransfer to the airport Mfuwe and flight back home
