Highlights of Zambia

After arrival in Lusaka transfer to a small lodge in the outskirts of town.

Overnight in chalets at Pioneer Camp or similar. Dinner in a restaurant (-/-/-).

After breakfast we drive through Lusaka and down the escarpment to the Zambezi valley. A visit to the Lower Zambezi Park is one of the highlights in Zambia.

The Zambezi River on the one side and the Escarpment on the other form the backdrop of our game viewing. We do game drives in the Park and boating along the river shore to watch the animals come to drink. On one of these days we will do a sunset boat cruise on the Zambezi.

We stay overnight in safari tents at Kasaka River Lodge (or similar) on the banks of the Zambezi River (3x FB)

Today we drive up the escarpment and back to Lusaka, where we do some shopping for the next days in the bush. In the afternoon we carry on to Kafue National Park, where we stay in safgari tents at Mawimbi Bush Camp on the bank of the Kafue River. We do game drives in this area (2x FB)

Early start and transfer in north-western direction to Busanga Plains This area can only be visited in a very limited time of the year. You will spend 2 days in this remote wilderness to explore the area on game drives. Overnight in Kasonso Camp (2x FB).

We leave the park and carry on to Lusaka, where we will spend the afternoon at the lodge of do some shopping in the capital. Overnight in chalets at Wilddog Lodge or similar. Dinner in the restaurant. (B/L/-).

Transfer to the airport Lusaka and flight to the airport in Mfuwe. Transfer to our lodge next to the Luangwa River. In the afternoon you will be taken on a night game drive. Overnight in chalets at Wildlife Camp or similar (B/-/D). 

South Luangwa NP is known for its abundance of African wildlife: Thorneycroft’s giraffe, Cookson’s Gnu, Crawshay Zebra, and big herds of buffalo and elephant. 

Game drives along the Luangwa River often produce spectacular sightings. Hippo families can be seen in great numbers in the river, unparalleled in Africa.

The colourful Carmine bee-eaters are often seen perching in front of their nests in the riverbanks.

Overnight in chalets at Wildlife Camp or similar (3x FB).

Transfer to the airport Mfuwe and flight back home (B/-/-)
