Botswana: Special Tour through the Kalahari

Day 1: Upington:
After arrival at Upington airport transfer to a small lodge in the vicinity of the town. Dinner in a restaurant. (-/-/-)

Day 2: Kalahari Trails:
After breakfast we drive in northern direction to the campsite of Kalahari Trails. In the afternoon we set off for a hike where we can observe meerkats and learn about the geology and animals of the Kalahari. Camping (FB).

Days 3 and 4: Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park
In the morning we arrive at the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park, where we go on game drives in the area of the Nossob River. Cheetahs, lions, bat-eared foxes as well as Elands, herds of Sprinboks and Oryx are frequently seen here.
2x overnight at Roiputs Lodge in en-suite chalets. (2x FB)

Day 5: on the Motopi Trail to Mabusehube Game reserve
The seemingly endless expanse of this remote region conveys a feeling of freedom.
We drive on lonely tracks through untouched tree savannah and past salt pans where animals gather to graze.
Overnight stay at a bush camp in the middle of the wilderness. (Full board)

Days 6 and 7: Mabuasehube Game Reserve
We carry on to the Mabuasehube Game Reserve.
The tree savannahs and red sand dunes of the southern part of the Kalahari offer a unique, wonderful atmosphere. At the time of our trip, there are numerous animal species that feed on the fresh, nutritious stalks that sprout after the rains.

Day 8: Kang
After a last game drive in this area, we leave the park and carry on to Kang, where we set up our tents on the campsite of a game farm. (FB).

Day 9: Ghanzi
Along the Kalahari Highway we drive to Ghanzi. WE stock up our groceries and stay overnight in a lodge. Dinner in the restaurant at own expense. (B/L/-)

Days 10 – 13: Zentral Kalahari Game Reserve:
We start off to the Central Kalahari Game Reserve. This park is one of the largest protected areas in the world (approx. 50,000 square kilometers!). There is a huge variety of animals here that have adapted to the arid conditions. Oryx antelopes, meerkats, and eland antelopes are often sighted. The “Kalahari lions” are known for their dark manes (“black maned lions”) and their extraordinary size. Along Deception Valley, Passarge Valley, and the remote Piper Pan, we have the best opportunity to observe the animals of the region because this is where the nutritious plants and grasses grow that the animals need to survive in this otherwise barren landscape.
The wide, open spaces are also the ideal habitat for cheetahs.

Day 14: Makgadikgadi-Pans-Nationalpark
Today‘s stage takes us to the Makgadikgadi Pans, we will do a game drive in the afternoon.

Day 15: Departure: Transfer to the airport in Maun and departure. (B/-/-)
