Hike & Bike in the Livingstone Area

3 days trip - explore the near vicinity of Livingstone and rural areas as well as the Batoka Gorge

Livingstone known as the "Adventure Capital of Africa," offers a unique perspective when explored from the seat of a bicycle and on our hiking trips. A three-day itinerary in this area allows you to balance high-energy nature rides, deep cultural immersion and great landscapes of the Batoka Gorge.

Itinerary

Day 1

Livingstone to Mabula Farm

After breakfast, we load up our converted safari vehicle and set off. The last 20 kilometers to the farm we cover by bike, riding through rural landscapes until we reach our private campsite on a game farm. As the sun dips toward the horizon, we embark on a sundowner tour to a nearby dam, hoping to spot kudu, impala, eland, and other wildlife gathering at the water’s edge. The day draws to a close with camping in spacious dome tents, nestled in the African bushveld. (-/L/D)

Day 2

Batoka Gorge

We spend the early morning on the f arm, setting out on a hike or exploring the grounds by bike.
At midday, after a short transfer in the Land Rover, we mount our mountain bikes and ride about 20 kilometers through rural countryside. The destination: our camp at the impressive Batoka Gorge.
As the sun sets, we take a short walk to a spectacular viewpoint over the river valley. The rugged landscape, bathed in warm evening light, forms the backdrop for our private campsite – a place of tranquility and authenticity…

Day 3

Livingstone

A hearty breakfast lays the foundation for the day.
The hike into the village or down to the river valley adapts flexibly to the season and to each participant’s fitness level. Especially from December to April, the waterfalls are a true highlight – they lend the route a seasonal magic.
Cultural encounter: the stop in Chibule offers authenticity and closeness to everyday life in an African village. This makes the tour rich not only in landscapes but also in human connection.
By midday, the journey leads back to Livingstone.
